When Mr. Rochester is no longer a part of her life, she is sad again. The plot of the story is based on Jane finding happiness and overcoming oppression and heavily influenced by her character. She is being taken to the expiration room because she supposedly started a fight with John, but this is not true because Jon was actually the one to start the fight. This example also shows that Jane is eternally oppressed by her kin life with her aunt and she goes by means of many hardships. The reader sees her capacity that she uses to make it through all these tough situations she faces. When Jane says, Psalms be not interesting (29), she shows her assertiveness in expressing her beliefs. This occurs when she is meeting with Mr. Brockelhurst and he is asking her questions. He is asking her about her beliefs and how she feels about her faith.
